The Associated Students of Michigan State University, MSU’s student government organization, voted unanimously Thursday night to call for the resignation of President Lou Anna Simon, or for the Board of Trustees to remove her.

ASMSU President Lorenzo Santavicca sent the resolution to Trustees after the meeting. It reads, in part, that “students no longer have the faith and confidence in the current administration of Michigan State University to carry out the duties of fostering a safe and secure campus.”

The resolution follows a growing list of officials calling for Simon to step down, a list that now includes state House Speaker Tom Leonard, Representative Sam Singh and Senator Curtis Hertel Junior.

Yesterday, the campus newspaper, the State News, published a blistering front page editorial calling for President Simon’s removal.
